Psytour, a dj from Greece, brings us a delectable collection of some of the best in night-psychedelic (AKA dark, but whatever.), with artists from all across the globe! Mastering work by Tim Schuldt of 4CN studio, so we can be sure the mastering work is crystal clean (And it is!)! Some old favorites come back out to show that they've still got it, and more, and some new favorites are here to show that by no means is pure psychedelic trance dead!

So lets take a look:

Track 1-Arsenic-I Am the Prison Starting out the compo is Arsenic. This is the first time Ive heard of them... So far, not a bad opener. Seems that Arsenic may have some potential.

Track 1-Stereographic-Don't Box Me In Rmx After their track on Acidsport, and their vs. on Multiple Personalities II, Im always interested to hear more from this Brazilian duo. And this track sure doesn't dissappoint! Nice production, that familiar Stereo sound, another nice one!

Track 3-Iron Madness-Psycho Piano Rmx I quite enjoyed Iron Madness' track on Ketuh's 'The Numinous' (Jihad of Islam rmx), and despite all the mud slung at the dude on Isratrance, I dig it! Typical Iron Madness track, nice bass and the sounds he apparently likes. Not a bad one, but compared to others on this comp, it falls slightly short. Which is to say, its not bad, actually its good, but... Well, read on!

Track 4-Ocelot-Mnemonic Device The only mnemonic device I need to remember how cool Aaron is, is a bit of a listen to this track! If his new album is anything like this one, Ive got some purchasing to do... Nice clean stuff, a cut above his previous work, but still the same old Ocelot! Great one, really psychedelic. Sorta reminds me of Yab Yum moments. Nice one!

Track 5-Fungus Funk-Face Off His album F People was quite a shock to me, and many, it was quite a bit different than the Fungus from the early Discovalley releases... But NO! He's still awesome, and still makes some of that heavy tribalish rhythmic stuff, as this track shows! Not only that but his production quality has soared! This is the Fungus we all knew and loved! He's back in the saddle and tougher than ever!

Track 6-Baba Jelly-Sexyzz This one is by far my favorite from Baba. Krim (1/2 of Jellyheads with 'Headz', half of Many Faces with Dejan) loves to make our brains quiver in their meningeal sacs! Pure alien trance, reminds me of a cross between CPC and Fractal Cowboys. Nice stuff! Best from Krim yet, in my opinon!

Track 7-Whicked Hayo Another act I first heard on a Ketuh release (Track 5 on Psychic Imprint), these guys from Belgium really peaked my interest! And damn, if this isn't the best goddamn track in this style Ive ever heard! If I remember right, which is questionable, Goa Gil played this track last October for his birthday. It stuck in my mind as an amazing addition to the Highko/Cosmo/KDD pure-psychedelic area. This one, whoa... Its got a single note bass throughout, and some glitchy breaks which Im sure may not sit well with some. But the production quality is amazing, the noises are all right where they should be, this one is sure to destroy the early-morning-late-night dancfloor! Damn, I can't stop playing it! Watch for the guys' album coming out soon! WHOOO HOO!!

Track 8-Fearkiller-Mts Its been a while since I heard any Fearkiller, and what I heard I liked! This one starts out with a sort of classical sounding vocal, then comes the Fearkilling bassline. A nice track, and shows Fearkiller's progress as an artist, but after that last one... Thats a tough act to follow. Not a bad one on its own, but right after Whicked Hayo its a little... Mellow. Great stuff though.

Track 9-Hokus Pokus-Vupti Hokus Pokus, who have releases on Parvati, Vertigo and others, are 2 guys from Denmark. Bringing the style of pure psychedelia we know and love from the Danes, this track is certainly a worthy addition to their release catalog! Atmospheric sounds floating around each other, cyber-screeches and just plain crazy noises flowing in and out... A nice closer to an amazing release!

After seeing a list of names like this, I just couldn't pass it up. If you like any one of these artists, I suggest you take a look at The First Oracle! Its one of the best pure psychedelic releases in a while, joining Japanhythm and Entre Nous to show just how good 2007 will be! I have high hopes, even if the rest of the year never sees a release like this again. All the artists present show that they've grown, and expanded, and are better than ever before!

My highlights:

2, 4, 5 (!), 6, 7(!!!!!!!!!)

I give this release a 9.4/10! A perfect addition to anyone's pure psy collection! :D
